Ok so guys. Let's talk about a major cheerleading controversy. Is cheerleading REALLY a sport? My uncle is a firm believer that it is NOT. I would love to hear what you all have to say on this subject!

I believe cheerleading is a sport, because it is more than just pom poms and screaming girls. It is a LOT of hard work and takes a LOT of dedication. If you want to be the best at competition, you have to take time and work really hard. You also want to impress your friends at school, so that pushes you harder. Cheerleading is also very dangerous, so every move has to be perfect to keep everyone safe!

Cheering is definently a sport!
A sport is "an athletic activity played for fun or competition."
I'm pretty sure Cheerleading IS a sport.

Hey Doug,
I totally agree. Cheerleading requires you to be physically fit, it requires athletic activity, and it does involve competition. So I completely agree that it's a sport. Anybody that doesn't agree hasn't really thought it through.

Cheerleading is a sport. It takes time and dedication, in my squad we practice for 6 hrs on saturdays, our coach is tough. But you tell me one other sport that practices that long. Plus it involves a lot of gymnastics and dance both of which are sports.
